For a few days, underlined words kept appearing in texts I was typing here and on other sites. Touching such words with my mouse made windows with advertising pop up. Very annoying!
I've googled and found out how to get rid off this. Here are the instructions to deactivate that text enhance add-on, as it's called.

Thank you for this. Do you mean the add-on was downloaded onto your computer without your knowing it?

Yes, of course. I'm not aware where I got that from. My son advised me: "Mom, you should not hit 'yes' everywhere''.
