Le projet 'The Enfield Haunting'

UK indie producer Eleven Film is making the dramatisation of the paranormal events and the investigation into them. Timothy Spall (Sweeney Todd) and Mathew Macfayden (The Three Musketeers) will both star in the new drama.

Added Macfadyen: "I'm very pleased and excited to be a part of this strange, unsettling and really quite moving story - and especially pleased to be working again with the brilliant Tim Spall."

It is understood that filming has already begun on the project in London, with the drama set to form the cornerstone of Sky Living's Spring 2015 schedule.

He will be played by Macfadyen, with Spall playing fellow paranormal investigator Maurice Grosse. Stevenson is taking the role of Grosse’s wife Betty.

The drama is being scripted by Joshua St Johnston (Walking on Sunshine)

Timothy Spall made a quick dash to Toronto to help launch Mike Leigh’s film, Mr Turner, about landscape artist J.M.W Turner. Then he caught a flight straight back to London.
The actor had been given special dispensation by Sky Living, for which he’s starring in three-part drama, The Enfield Haunting, to take off for a couple of days in Canada, and was back on set by Wednesday.

The Enfield Haunting is based on a real story about two teenage girls who claimed they were possessed by poltergeists’.
Spall, whose on-screen wife is Juliet Stevenson, plays a man who becomes involved in the phenomenon. Matthew MacFadyen also stars.
‘It’s about a lot more than people going “boo”,’ he told me. ‘This young girl is channelling stuff that my character’s directly involved in. Was it real or was it not? That’s the question.
‘It’s a fascinating tale with plenty of interesting layers.’ Spall added.
