A Matthew Macfadyen & Teddy Bear picture

The picture below recently surfaced on Facebook, at the beginning more or less undercover, but soon going viral and already being used as a public profile photo (see here).
There are no photo credit nor date attached to it and, with plenty of "I believe that" and "not sure about", its origin on-line is obviously lost and only God knows whence it comes ... and if it is authentic.

Can anyone help us to authenticate this picture of Matthew Macfadyen or prove it is a fake? Thank you.

This picture is either:

a promotional photograph - and its origin shouldn't be that difficult to identify - or
a private or unauthorized photograph, unfairly published - and the audacious initial poster will of course refrain from divulging his or her source - or
a fake - and I am wasting my time...

I am tempted to directly contact the actor's agent and ask. But in the second case, there might be reprisals. Damn it!
